Cierra - Yoga Teacher

My Philosophy

Deeply rooted in mindfulness, restorative practices, and nervous system regulation, my philosophy embraces yoga as a powerful tool for healing and transformation.

Yoga isn't just a workout routine; it’s a way to pause, reconnect, and restore balance to our lives. In today’s world, the constant push to keep producing and keep going beyond our capacity creates stress and burnout, leaving us disregulated within ourselves and the world around us. Stress, along with individual and generational trauma, become stored in the body, impacting both physical and mental health. Movement, conscious awareness, and mindful practice are essential for release and regulating the nervous system.

I aim to create a supportive and nurturing environment where students can explore their inner selves, center, and build resilience. Drawing from various yoga traditions, the Polyvagal Theory, and Yoga Therapy techniques, I design practices tailored to each individual’s unique journey toward wholeness.

Personal Practice

I began yoga at the age of 12. No matter where I've been in life, yoga has been a constant. I am thankful. I am always learning, always evolving.

About Me

Hello and welcome. I'm Cierra, and I'm so happy to be sharing yoga with you. My journey began accidentally with the 90’s fitness VHS tapes that my mom would buy. One of them was called Yoga Zone and I fell in love with yoga right then and there. I was blown away by the stillness of savasana, the lift in spirit and body from asana, the fun hippie vibe of an alternative lifestyle. I did that practice every day for months, and would revisit the tape for years to come.

The asana practice led me on a more centered and spiritual path, as it often does. 25 years of home practice later, I decided maybe I wanted to deepen my knowledge with a yoga teacher training (the introvert in me said maybe not). My partner, Aaron, ever supportive, encouraged me to do it. A sign from the universe showed up with a training starting that weekend, so I signed up. I am now a RYT-200 certified Heart Centered Yoga Teacher, and furthered my education in trauma-informed yoga and yoga therapy techniques.

I am Mom to 3 - my daughter, Adelaide, and my twin boys, Phoenix and Aaro. I have a cat named Smudges, and a dog named Barkley. I have entirely too many hobbies - currently they are gardening, cooking, interior decorating, reading with my book club @thebannedbooksbookclub, admiring cats, making fancy cakes, and finding lovely places to eat in Austin. In past seasons of my life I was a saltwater aquarium hobbiest, painter, DIYer, and owner of my pet care company, The Mindful Pet, which have taken a bit of a hiatus while babies and yoga happen.
